The Longest Picnic Blanket
Saturday, June 15th, 2019
134 S. Main St.
Dayton, OH 45402
Over the past few years, thousands of Daytonians have come together at tables in community centers, parks, churches, and homes to be part of Dayton’s Longest Table project. Twice that dinner table stretched the entire length of the Third Street bridge. At every table have been strangers who wanted to break bread with their neighbors and meet someone new. Longest Table meals thoughtfully challenge participants to re-think their assumptions about other parts of town and the people who live there.
On June 15th, 2019, the Longest Table Dayton will come to life in a new and exciting format. You are invited to pack your picnic basket and take a seat at the Longest Picnic Blanket stretching across the lawn at Levitt Pavilion! When you arrive, you’ll be randomly assigned to a small group of people you’ve probably never met. You’ll enjoy your picnic together over a gently-guided conversation meant to connect and inspire. As 7pm approaches, we’ll wrap up the meal and enjoy a FREE Levitt concert!
Unlike past Longest Table events, we’re asking that you pack your own meal. It will allow maximum time for the conversation and it’s a fun conversation starter! We’ll have a supply of bagged picnic meals for anyone who forgets or who doesn’t otherwise have access to a good meal that day.
If you would like to make a donation to support the project, you can do so here: thelongesttabledayton.com/donate.

Pack your own picnic - A simple brown bag lunch works! There will be water available on-site.
Absolutely NO GLASS containers or bottles are permitted on the Levitt Lawn
NO ALCOHOL - Alcoholic beverages ARE permitted during the concert beginning at 7pm, but they are NOT permitted during the Longest Table event. Please leave them in your cooler or bag until the concert begins.
Dress for the weather. The event is outside.
You’ll be sitting on the ground at a picnic blanket with your group. You may want to bring a folding chair, a seat pad, extra blanket, or anything else that will make you more comfortable. These are also great items to have if you’re staying for the concert!
You’ll be randomly assigned to a small group so that you’re not tempted to sit with people you already know. We will gladly accommodate families and dependents who need to stay together.
Families & Children
You are welcome to bring your children to the event. Teens and young adults are especially valuable voices to our community conversation. Very young children might find sitting still for a long conversation a little boring, so you may want to bring a coloring book or other activity for them. We ask that you do your best to stay with your group and engaged in the conversation throughout the picnic.
RSVP for the event today and be part of the Longest Table movement!
If you would like to RSVP for multiple adults, please submit a separate RSVP form for each one.
